Why is looking after your skin important for you?
My own Mother had beautiful skin and always encouraged me from the age of ten, to care for my skin using “supermarket” moisturiser products combined with homemade oatmeal and rice flour cleansing routines. My skin is something that people would remark on, and this made me feel grateful for my mothers gift! Self-esteem comes from within.
What is one thing you hope your daughter/son remembers of their childhood?
Being within a family that spent time together at home or on adventures, where everyone was valued and loved unconditionally. Family gives a sense of connectedness.
If you could talk to your pre-motherhood self, what advice would you give her?
Take time with relationships, be grateful for the opportunities that come to you and listen to the important people in your life.
Becoming a Mother is one of the most important milestones in your life, never take this for granted. Give as much time as you can. It will be the most rewarding job that you do.
What is the best/your favourite characteristic you have inherited from your Mother?
I have definitely inherited my skin from my mother! and the importance of looking after it.
Unconditional love was the characteristic of my Mother that I still keep with me today.
What message do you have for Mum this year given the challenges we are all living through?
Take this opportunity to spend more time with your family, to listen and grow with them, and be able to share many activities that will remain as precious memories to be treasured into the future
Tell us one thing that surprised you about yourself when becoming a Mother?
No one prepared me for just how much love I would have for my child. I can remember when my eyes locked with my daughter, and I knew that this small baby was so precious to me and my life wouldn’t be the same again. I can remember wondering how I could ever include anyone else in my heart.I can still see those small blue eyes now in my daughter who is now a woman. Sheer delight.
